Which do you need, document capture or data capture? In document capture, scanned images are stored for later retrieval, so the focus is on efficient scanning, accurate image clean-up, and automated indexing. In data capture, images are frequently discarded and only the extracted data is kept, so the focus is on versatile and accurate recognition features (OCR– machine print; ICR – handwriting; OMR – check marks; and bar codes). Whichever you need, Ascent Capture for OTG has you covered. It boasts the fastest, most flexible scanning and indexing around, and also performs automatic form ID and highly accurate zonal OCR and ICR that can extract even the toughest data from scanned images without missing a beat.

Ascent Capture for OTG Internet

Ascent Capture for OTG Internet (ACI) Server™ is an optional module in the Ascent Capture for OTG family that allows you to set up remote scanning stations and connect them all to a single central site via the Internet. ACI Server is simple to set up, works over any Internet connection from dial-up to T1, and provides complete security for transmitted images and data. In a typical ACI Server installation, each remote site is equipped with a standard Ascent Capture for OTG scan license.

Remote licenses of Ascent Capture for OTG are available starting at under $1,000, and hundreds of remote sites can be supported by a single server. Remote sites perform scanning and other functions such as OCR and indexing. At the central site, ACI Server can be installed on any Windows NT server running Microsoft IIS. Other Ascent Capture for OTG stations that perform post-scan functions such as forms processing, OCR, validation, and release are installed as needed on other stations on the central network. Remote stations use configuration information that is created at the central site and automatically downloaded to the remote stations. When scanned batches are completed, they are transmitted to the central ACI Server and then routed to the other Ascent Capture for OTG stations on the central network. Batches are processed normally and then released to OTG’s ApplicationXtender.

COLDXTENDER™

COLDXTENDER (CX) from OTG Software is a flexible, powerful solution for electronically managing computer output data and reports. Formatted computer reports that are routinely printed to paper, microfilmed, or microfiched can be processed and stored electronically using CX. These reports can then be retrieved quickly and efficiently from the desktop, avoiding time-consuming searches through stacks of paper or microfilm. CX is a powerful tool for reducing and eliminating the costs associated with the storage, use, and distribution of off-line media (i.e., paper, microfilm, and microfiche). CX extracts identifying index data from computer output reports and stores the index data and associated reports in searchable database applications. Using an automated index extraction utility, CX catalogues and compresses computer reports for storage. After processing, reports are immediately available for retrieval through OTG’s APPLICATIONXTENDER™ and WEBXTENDER™

APPLICATIONXTENDER’s graphical user interface makes it easy to display, print, fax, e-mail, or annotate stored reports. WEBXTENDER allows reports to be retrieved and viewed over corporate intranets or the World Wide Web.

SCANXTENDER™ from OTG Software provide fast and efficient batch scanning capabilities for any APPLICATIONXTENDER™ system. Both SX and SX Pro seamlessly integrate with APPLICATIONXTENDER, creating a solution that is easy to install, configure, and operate. Effective high-volume document capture is accomplished virtually effortlessly.

Both are comprehensive offerings for batch scanning and document capture in 32- bit Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT desktop environments. SX is a high-speed batch scan and index module with configurable processing queues. SX Pro extends this functionality by incorporating zonal OCR indexing, bar code recognition, advanced processing queues, and operational reports. Both SX and SX Pro support most scanners available on the market. Through easy-to-use image acquisition and indexing functions, both solutions are designed to meet any organization's document capture needs. With SX and SX Pro, users can simultaneously perform work on the same batch from multiple workstations - including any combination of scan and index workstations.

Furthermore, SCANXTENDER features APPLICATIONXTENDER's indexing functionality. Both solutions include auto-index, key reference file, and duplicate previous index features.
