Washington Microfilm Imaging Solution: A Practical and Affordable Microfilm Archive Replacement Solution

If you have a limited budget and you are looking for a cost-effective, practical way to digitally convert legacy microfilm records, you have found the right microfilm imaging solution. Digital ReeL is both a microfilm imaging service and a software application. BMI Imaging completes the microfilm imaging service at one of our secure microfilm imaging facilities (optional on-site options available). Digital ReeL comes with a purpose-built software application that looks like a physical reader printer. Our microfilm imaging service scans the entire microfilm roll, creating an exact digital representation of each microfilm roll. Your users then use the Digital ReeL application to retrieve the digital microfilm roll they are seeking from a computer workstation.

Rather than handling physical microfilm rolls and reader printers, your users will leverage digital microfilm rolls that are accessible from one or more computer workstations. Easy and cost-effective, the Digital ReeL microfilm imaging solution is the industry's most practical and affordable way to finally get rid of your microfilm and reader printers once and for all.

Digital ReeL is Unique to the Industry

  • Microfilm Imaging Accuracy - No Lost Images During Conversion: standard microfilm imaging services lose a small percentage of your images during the conversion (even microfilm imaging accuracies greater than 99% can still result in hundreds or thousands of lost records). The Digital ReeL microfilm imaging solution is unique because it scans the entire microfilm roll (no images or details are lost; you get a precise, digital replica of your microfilm rolls).
  • Adjustable Grayscale Image Quality: users are able to adjust the contrast and brightness of each image. Even the toughest-to-read images can be optimized using Digital ReeL.
  • Half the Price of Standard Microfilm Imaging Services: because we index at the microfilm roll level rather than each individual record, we do not require expensive, elaborate indexing methods.

Digital ReeL Hosted Option Available

Digital ReeL is available as an on premise application or as a hosted service.

If you select the on premise option, your organization's IT department installs the Digital ReeL application and manages the servers and storage that host your digitally scanned microfilm rolls. Users access records from a computer workstation(s) through an installable, Digital ReeL application or the Digital ReeL web interface.

If you select the hosted option, BMI completes the Washington microfilm imaging service and then stores your digitally converted microfilm rolls at our secure data center. Your users access digital microfilm rolls from the Digital ReeL web access interface by logging into the Internet (support for standard web browsers such as Internet Explorer).
