Digital ReeL: A New Jersey Microfilm Scanning Solution

Offered nationwide, Digital ReeL is a unique microfilm scanning solution that is available to New Jersey companies and government agencies. BMI Imaging completes the microfilm scanning service at our secure, Northern California facility. On-site microfilm scanning options are available. Our microfilm scanning process creates a virtual, digital replica of your microfilm (or microfiche). The Digital ReeL microfilm scanning solution includes a computer application that emulates microfilm retrieval from a reader printer. Users retrieve their virtual microfilm rolls from a workstation, eliminating the need to hassle with physical microfilm and reader printers.

Digital ReeL customers include federal government agencies, state and local government departments and private companies. New Jersey courts, law enforcement, title companies, insurance organizations and more can trust their microfilm scanning requirements to Digital ReeL.

Digital ReeL is Unique to the Industry

  • Microfilm Scanning Accuracy: We scan your microfilm (microfiche and aperture cards) with near 100% accuracy because the entire microfilm roll or microfiche is digitally converted. No images or details are lost because the microfilm roll or microfiche is digitally preserved exactly as it appeared in its physical state.
  • Adjustable Grayscale Image Quality: Adjustable grayscale enables users to adjust the brightness and contrast of each image. Users can optimize tough-to-read images, even illegible images, using this feature of Digital ReeL.
  • Affordable Price: Digital ReeL is priced 50% less than standard microfilm conversion methods (ideal for infrequently accessed microfilm archives).

Hosted Options Available in Addition to On Premise Installation

  • On Premise: The microfilm scanning process is performed by BMI Imaging at our secure conversion facility. Once your microfilm rolls are converted, we'll send your digital microfilm rolls and the Digital ReeL application to your organization. Your IT department will then install the Digital ReeL application and manage the servers and storage that store your digitally converted microfilm, microfiche and aperture card records. Users access records from a computer workstation(s) through an installable, Digital ReeL application or the Digital ReeL web interface.
  • Hosted Option: BMI completes the New Jersey microfilm conversion and then stores your digitally converted records at our secure data center. Users log into the Internet and access their images from the Digital ReeL web interface. If you don't have a large IT department or simply want to avoid up-front IT expenditures, Digital ReeL's hosted option is an ideal solution.

Secure Facilities

Digital ReeL's microfilm conversion service is completed at one of BMI Imaging's two HIPAA-compliant secure facilities (optional on-site conversion is available). To ensure the safety of your information while in our hands, each one of our production facilities includes alarm and sprinkler systems, fire-suppression equipment, remote monitoring and tightly controlled facility access.
